Hal Asmar Ellon is a popular traditional song from Aleppo in Syria. It has been transmitted orally in Arab Regions, with melodic and textual variations. The song embodies both an atmosphere of melancholy and a spirit of hope.
Hal Asmar Ellon是起源于叙利亚阿勒颇的一首传统民歌，在阿拉伯地区口口相传，几乎人人会唱，因区域不同，旋律和歌词稍有变化。这首歌曲调体现了惆怅的情绪，又充满了希望的精神，有唱词的版本，还传达了人与人之间的情深意重。
The arrangement of this piece is based on the performance of Kenan Adnawi，an award winning famous Syrian oud player，and uses one of the Arabic modes called hijaz.
The Chinese musician uses a Chinese plucked string instrument, Zhongruan, or Ruanxian/Ruanqin, named after the famous intellectual Ruanxian back to Western Jin Dynasty （265－316 AD）, who was one of the famous “Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove”.
The sound of Zhongruan is quiet, soft and poetic. In the 20th century, it has gone through developments and become a representative of traditional Chinese middle register musical instruments.
本曲目编排参考叙利亚著名乌德琴演奏家Kenan Adnawi的演奏版本，使用了一种名为hijaz mode的阿拉伯调式。演奏使用了中国传统拨弦乐器——中阮，也称阮咸、阮琴，得名于西晋“竹林七贤”中的阮咸。它音色恬静、柔和、富有诗意。近代，中阮得到了许多改革，成为中国传统乐器里中音乐器的代表。
