Introducing Armani White | Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch 2023

The “it factor.” The “whole package.” Call it what you want, but when we had Armani White come through our Ctrl studio earlier this year, we were pretty blown away by his skills. So much so that we insisted he return, this time to our Artists To Watch 2023 stage. Even if you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve still probably felt the Philly rapper’s “BILLIE EILISH” rattling your coop. Crafted by July Da Producer and riding a sly rework of N.O.R.E.’s “Jewel,” it emphasizes the hop half of hip-hop - it’s impossible to stay seated while it bumps. White says Billie is a big inspiration; dude’s been a fan since the “my boy” days, and an even bigger fan of the superstar’s fashion choices. “I wanted to make something that pays homage to her creativity and playfulness while also displaying my very similar character,” he told us. Mission accomplished. Those plugged into the Philly rap scene likely know White’s 2019 project ‘Keep In Touch.’ His charismatic delivery and penchant for ambitious beat selections really came through on standout tracks “Onederful” and “Public School.” Think a little Brockhampton here, a smattering of Aminé there. Even though this was his second time performing his breakout hit for us, this new spin feels super fresh. A live drummer and more room to bounce around helps with that. Watch out, whirlwind coming through.
