Black Celebration by Depeche Mode FL Studio instrumental cover

My FL Studio cover of the opening and title track from Depeche Mode's 1986 album Black Celebration. The song was played live on multiple occasions but was never released as a single. Many of my favorite songs by the band are from that album, including the title track, Fly on the Windscreen, Stripped, A Question of Time, Here is the House, New Dress. The album continued Depeche Mode's trajectory toward a darker industrial influenced in large part thanks to Martin Gore's songwriting and Alan Wilder's synth work.

The song's main riff appears to be inspired by John Carpenter's Halloween theme. Yet Martin Gore turns this song into something of a dark romantic ballad, with the subject of the song being envious of his beloved ability to carry on despite adversity and desperately desiring to "take you in my arms, forgetting all I couldn't do tonight." Add to that Alan Wilder's sampling of metallic sounds and drone-like synth basslines and Dave Gahan's baritone vocals, and you get Black Celebration.

This cover does not feature any vocals except for myself saying "a brief period of rejoicing" with a lot of distortion and an eq cut effect to imitate an old radio. This is in imitation of what Daniel Miller's voice at the beginning of the original, who in turn said those words to imitate Winston Churchill's speech in 1945. The original features lead vocals from Dave Gahan and backing vocals from Martin Gore and Alan Wilder. I am hoping to eventually add those elements, possibly with myself doing the Gore/Wilder backing vocals and lead vocals from a Dave Gahan soundalike/lookalike.
