All credit to the members of Depeche Mode for creating such a great song. This synth/keyboard cover is for educational purposes only and made under the fair use portion of copyright statue as an educational video only.
The other keyboardist and I in my band Nite Wave split up the duties for this song when we play it live. In this video I'm playing the parts I play live, which is why you hear keyboard parts I'm not playing, he covers them.
This was among the first dozen or so songs we learned, and possibly the first we learned that needed two keyboards live, and I remember it really stretched what I knew how to do at the time. Figuring out who would do what so parts could all be physically played, finding sounds that were similar but different, getting the levels for the different parts right, all that stuff.
People don't realize this, but anybody playing keyboard parts this way is really the first line of mixing at a live event; the sound guy can't control the levels between my parts, just the overall volume of the whole keyboard, so you have to take time to really get the different parts at the right volumes. usually takes a few gigs to make tweaks and get a final mix the way you want it.
But again, it may be work, but it's all fun work :-) Now, sing it like Dave: Enjoy the cover ;-)
