Nicolás Rada was born in April, 1986, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since childhood, he has loved percussion; and once he grew up, he started studying piano. Time gave him not only experience, but also a breakthrough in new trends of electronic music, and consequently, the challenge of creating his own productions.His favourite group is Radiohead, band from which he acquired dark and melodic sounds. Within electronic music, he has been influenced by some famous deejays like Danny Howells (his favourite one), John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Nick Warren, Guy Mantzur, Stephan Bodzin, Dosem, Sahar Z, Martín García, among others; so this way, he continued going foward the dark sounds of Progressive House, Tech House, Techno and Deep House. His distinctive feature when mixing, gained from all this influence, has been the characteristic that stands out in all his shows.2007 was the year in which he started producing professionally, and from that time on, his musical growth was notable. Many of his projects were supported by international DJs. Some of his most remarkable tracks, as ‘Energy Flow’ of Mano Le Tough, ‘Everything In It’s Right Place’ of Radiohead and ‘Man I Need’ of Jawar Ma, received the reliance of Hernan Cattaneo and were played around the globe. Not only many night clubs and bars from Buenos Aires, but also a lot of provinces of Argentina, enjoyed Nicolás Rada’s performances. During 2010 he travelled around Mexico, together with his friend Nicholas Van Orton, and played live in many pubs of that country.

The latest installment in our free download series welcomes Nicolas Rada for his third appearance. Upon beginning his career in 2007, Nicolas quickly became a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo where his original productions and private remixes become a staple in the sets of the storied DJ. Hailing from Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist eventually found a home on Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and Eelke Kleijn’s Days Like Nights where his groovy progressive sound has flourished. 2017 proved to be a breakout year, highlighted by his first remix collaboration with Nick Warren, where the duo reworked Upercent’s ‘Pulsacions’ to both critical and commercial success. Now frequent studio partners, Nicolas and Nick have continued to build a strong studio synergy showcasing their original material on Nick’s The Soundgarden imprint while also recording a string of impressive remixes for Get Physical, Monday Social Music, Proton Music and Timeless Moment. On the solo front, Nicolas has also continued to prosper with an appearance on Patrice Buamel’s GU Berlin compilation, along with original projects for Sudbeat Music and TRYBESof. Having first appeared on our free download series with his hugely sought-after remake of Bjork’s ‘Mutual Core’ in 2019 and then again in 2020 with an equally large rendition of Underworld’s ‘Cowgirl’, we’re happy to welcome Nicolas back with a huge interpretation of the Depeche Mode classic ‘Precious’. Initially remixed by progressive house icons Sasha and Spooky in 2005, Nicolas now brings a new perspective to the track which has been championed by John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren.
