Who doesn’t love a good underdog story. God knows, KISS is the definition of the underdog. This is a band that should not have made it, but here we are, 50 years later on their End of the Road Tour. Of course, the band has had a lot of ups and downs in their illustrious career. Each of their downs in an underdog story in itself. For example, we have often talked about Music from the Elder on this show, of course, a prime example of the classic underdog story in KISStory. Although maybe debatable, The Elder has the respect of many KISS fans and is now seen as an important part of KISStory.
One album that does not have the respect of the fans or the band and is primarily ignored by both, is of course, Carnival of Souls. On this episode, we ask the question, is Carnival of Souls an underdog similar to The Elder? Will it ever find it’s place in KISStory as an important contribution to the legacy of KISS? Is it so bad and why is it perceived as such? We also ask the question…is GRUNGIFIED a word???
