Ann Wilson and sister Nancy Wilson of the rock band Heart had dominated the end of the 70s with their amazing record Dreamboat Annie and songs like Magic Man, Barracuda and Crazy on You... then for years going into the 80s they were shut out of the charts. Their album sales were dwindling as they entered the excess of the 80s. Then songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly came in with an outside song they'd written called Alone. Heart recorded it for their BAD ANIMALS album and Ann Wilson opened up the zipper to her soul with one of the best vocals of the 80s. Alone the song sent Heart back to the top of the charts and put them back on a legendary track to the rock and roll hall of fame.
