One day, Lenny Kravitz was testing an amplifier that was delivered to the studio. Having connected the guitar, Kravitz began to play a melody, simply moving between a couple of chords, after which he told the engineer: "Connect the microphones and record ." So the wonderful composition "Fly Away"was born.

"Fly Away" is the fourth single from his fifth studio album (1998). Released on November 9, 1998, "Fly Away" peaked at number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 . Outside of the US, "Fly Away" topped the charts in Iceland and the UK and entered the top ten charts in several countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the Republic of Ireland. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Performance in 1999.
