Hey kids, its your good buddy Uncle Ben back again with Weekend Wankshop 306! Ever wanted to jam out to some Motley Crue songs in your live set list, but haven't wanted to bring ANOTHER guitar set up for D standard tuning? We've all been there. Thankfully, there's a handful or Crue tunes that work GREAT in standard tuning, and you're about to learn them today!!!
All 4 of these songs are pretty dang easy to play and don't require any downtuning. This is exactly the way we play these songs in my hair metal tribute band Skankbanger, and they ALWAYS get the crowd going!! I'm gonna show you all the rhythm guitar parts for these songs, plus give you some basic ideas for how to approach the solos. Mick Mars never really played the same solo twice, anyway, so neither should we! Improvise your own shreddy masterpiece and it will turn out just fine.
We also have our own ways of playing Dr Feelgood and Girls, Girls, Girls using drop D tuning. Let me know in the comments if you want to see a lesson on those! You can also kinda fake Kickstart My Heart in standard, although some of the runs end up pretty different.
Learn these tunes now and be ready for gig season coming up soon!!! I can't wait to get back out on stage and play for you all!!!!
