My Review of Depeche Mode's "Memento Mori"

In this video I give my honest review of the latest album by one of my all time favorite bands, Depeche Mode. It is called "Memento Mori". I have been a huge fan of this band since their glory days in the 80s. I own every album they have ever released, since their debut album "Speak and Spell" in 1981.

As I mention in the video, I have only been a moderate fan of everything they have done in the past 20 years or so. The last album they released that I really enjoyed was "Ultra", way back in 1997. Pretty much everything they have done since then has just been okay in my opinion.

Now, that is not to suggest that I think all their albums of the past 20 years are unworthy or bad. Not at all. In fact, I think there have been some excellent songs released in that time frame. If I could sum up my overall impression of their output since 1997, I would say it has been a little forgettable and underwhelming. But certainly not terrible. I still feel that Depeche Mode's weakest effort is still much better than the best efforts by many modern bands.

So, what did I think of "Memento Mori"? How does it stand up to previous recordings? Is it worth picking up? Did I enjoy it? What were my favorite tracks on the disc? Watch the video to find out!

Certainly, like many fans, I was very curious to check out this album, the first from the band since the untimely passing of Andy Fletcher. I think many of us were wondering how his absence would impact the overall sound of Depeche Mode. Watch this video to hear my sincere review of their latest offering.
