Introducing ODUMODUBLVCK | Vevo DSCVR

ODUMODUBLVCK’s music is both a testament to individuality and a deep connection with his cultural roots. Born in Nigeria as Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, the man called Big Kala has steadily risen in the country’s increasingly important music scene. His regal blends of traditional Afrobeat with contemporary hip-hop will imbue any listener with swagger. Turn up the volume on last year’s ‘EZIOKWU’ album, and you’ll be strutting around the room in no time. That project, the latest in a string of albums that the prolific MC has released in a little more than half a decade, is his best-performing title, boasting more than 100 million Spotify streams. On the buoyant sprint “KUBOLOUR,” he splits duties with Amaarae, another stylistically unique artist who’s been killing it lately in the experimental side of Afropop. Album opener “COMMEND” is a nice intro to our DSCVR man. It’s got lounge horns and a drill bass that appeal across audiences, but his dynamic vocals are the real revelation.
