Introducing Pajel | Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch 2023
Seems like everyone can feel it when a young talent rounds a corner and starts that upwards trajectory towards broader success. Pajel’s fans and contemporaries certainly had a sense of such uplift this past year. The promise of “Verkackt” and “Hausbesuch” just kind of crystallized, and the scope of his debut album ‘Seelenfrieden’ clearly presented itself. It didn’t take too long. It’s only been a year since “10von10” turned lots of heads on the German hip-hop scene by charting significantly in Austria, Switzerland, and his home country. The Neuss native with Ghanaian-Togolese roots also used the track to plant a flag on top of the Spotify and TikTok charts as well. One thing’s for sure: he’s been hanging with the right crowd. Features with Namika, Luciano and Olexesh help cement his cred, impressing what’s ostensibly the competition: Bausa, Luciano, and Headie One are collaborators and fans. His ‘Seelenfrieden’ EP reveals there’s room for vigorous force in his otherwise laid-back approach. He’s becoming known outside music, too; the rapper grabbed some major buzz when he hit social media with German national football players Thomas Müller and Serge Gnabry sporting what was said to be the club’s newly-designed uniform. But forget fashion. We chose Pajel to be a part of DSCVR Artists To Watch 2023 because of his musical clout. Due early next year, his ‘2006’ debut album boasts tracks produced by Miksu/Macloud, Lucry & Suena, and pZy. Watch his performances of “Ozean” and “Sofa,” and you’ll know why we’re excited to see him make a sizable dent in 2023.
