In 2002, American country singer Johnny Cash covered Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" for his album American IV: The Man Comes Around. The idea to cover the song was suggested by record producer Rick Rubin. Cash called it "probably the most evangelical gospel song I ever recorded"
