PFD - "Programmed For Damage" (2002) Full First Album

When I decided to upload all my fake albums, I forgot how bad some of them are. But I'm committed to it now.

PFD was my first fake band that was a mish mash of all kinds of crap until it settled into being mostly my hard rock/grunge type thing.

Today these old PFD albums sound like garbage and the songs aren't much better. These awful albums having such cool looking covers now is hilarious.

It started when I bought my first recording software and keyboard. I just made up two songs to learn how it worked. Those songs sounded amazing compared to my 4 track. It didn't help my vocals any but everything else sounded way better. I decided to do a new project around those two songs and instead of just doing songs... what if I did an entire album?

My first plan was to make the whole thing a parody of Nu-Metal. POD had that Boom song so PFD did Boom Boom.
That idea lasted like 2 songs. Then it became a mix of that and a parody of hard rock with a bunch of corny lyrics. Motley Crue 94 was a huge influence at the time so I did an awful cover of Uncle Jack. Then it just became whatever I wrote went on the album. It was very seat of my pants.

People surprisingly liked it but that was 98% based on the fact that it sounded better than my 4 track recordings. At the time I was so excited that I was convinced that PFD was all I would do for the rest of my life. It was not.

Despite what many claim, PFD does not stand for Pretty Fucking Dumb. It stands for Programmed For Damage. While trying to come up with a name I watched a really awful horror movie about video game programmers. One of them said to another "In this world you've got to be P... F... D.... programmed for damage" and I immediately said "well, there it is".
