Ramón Vega es el miembro más joven de la clase DSCVR Artists to Watch 2023. De hecho, con tan sólo 17 años, el cantante mexicano es uno de los escogidos de ATW más jóvenes en la historia de nuestra serie. Pero, ¿cómo llegó hasta aquí? Empecemos con su talento. Ramón no sólo posee una voz delicada de alto registro, sino que también es un artista multidisciplinario que escribe, compone, y produce su música. Este último detalle es importante para la próxima razón por la cual apoyamos con gusto al cantante: la música del tipo no conoce las barreras de los géneros. Partículas atómicas de trap, R&B, música regional mexicana y synth pop chocan a través de toda su discografía. Para escuchar la evidencia de la fuerza de sus experimentos, chequea ‘La Nueva R’. Ideado por Ramón y su hermano en su habitación durante la cuarentena, el EP del 2021 generó muchísima atención ya que presentaba una voz Latine fresca y con mucho star appeal. Con aires de disco de los 70, “Tírame un Hello” es la canción para comenzar la fiesta con todo. En cambio, “El Sonorense” encuentra a Ramón rapeando encima de una cama de synths oscuros. Pero es la canción de apertura del proyecto, “Romántico”, la que en realidad demuestra la ambición del sonorense –fusionar el acordeón norteño con los 808s poperos. Hemos cubierto demasiado material aquí. Ramón trajo “BeSos “eScoRpiÓn :)” a nuestro nuevo DSCVR set. Sus fans están respondiendo a la canción y es muy fácil saber por qué. Ramón Vega is the youngest member of our DSCVR Artists To Watch 2023 class. At 17, the Mexican singer is actually one of our youngest ATW choices ever. Which begs the question: how’d he get here? Start with the talent. Not only does Ramón possess a delicate, high-register voice, he’s a multi-hyphenate artist who writes, plays and produces. That last detail is important to the next reason behind our support: dude’s music knows no genre boundaries. Atomic particles of trap, R&B, regional Mexican, and synth pop collide throughout his discography. To hear evidence of his experiments’ strength, look to ‘La Nueva R.’ Concocted by Ramón and his brother in their bedroom during the lockdown, the 2021 EP earned lots of attention by presenting a fresh Latine voice with tons of star appeal. “Tírame Un Hello” is a disco-tinged party starter. “El Sonorense” finds him rapping over moody synths. Project opener “Romántico” really shows off his ambition: fusing regional Norteño accordion with pop 808s. There’s lots of ground being covered here. Ramon brought “eScoRpiÓn :)” to our brand new DSCVR set. Fans are really responding to the Michelle Maciel collab, and it's easy to see why. As the singer might put it, the results are :)
