A new Depeche Mode album is always a big event. Because here, despite a golden age necessarily over, the stainless training led by Dave Gahan and Martin Gore remains a respectable dinosaur of world pop, somehow managing to reconcile artistic standards and unifying wills.

The mixed Sounds Of The Universe prolongs this stagnant creative state while serving above all as an ideal springboard for an international tour that looks like a great jubilant circus (the marquee will be planted at the Stade de France on June 27 and in Nancy on the 28). Founding member Andrew Fletcher is shining a light on the new moods of his legendary band all week.
