Slowthai - Rainbow an exclusive live performance for Vevo DSCVR ARTISTS TO WATCH 2019, an annual series highlighting those that are shaping the future of music.
It might be fair to say that Northampton isn’t exactly the place that springs to mind when thinking about the future of hip-hop. But Slowthai - real name Tyron Frampton - is here to remind us that the city 60 miles north of London played a big part in the early years of Grime and that it’s producing exciting talent today. His music fuses all manner of UK genres; from Grime and Dubstep to Garage and Punk there’s no questioning the visceral energy Slowthai injects into his sound. So far he’s dealt with subjects such as masculinity, class and adolescence in the face of adversity - and every single time he does so candidly. There’s a clear motive behind his music too. Slowthai’s said in past interviews that he wants to speak out for a generation of kids who’ve been ignored for too long, and with his dark bars, beats and videos - he’s boldly making sure that we all listen up. Hit play on his live DSCVR performances of “Doorman” and “Rainbow” to get transported to the frantic life of Slowthai.
