TOBi - Family Matters. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.

Born in Nigeria and raised in the Toronto suburbs, Oluwatobi Feyisara Ajibolade grew up on everything from Marvin Gaye to Fela Kuti to A Tribe Called Quest. It’s easy to hear those influences in his own music. In the last two years TOBi has released two projects: 'Still' and 'ELEMENTS,' the first incorporating more boom-bap hip-hop beats then its successor. “City Blues,” from ‘Still,’ is a rainy portrait of street lethargy carrying enough rap bonafides for The Game himself to hop on a remix for the album’s deluxe edition. TOBi's sound has subtly shifted between the two projects. 'ELEMENTS' goes deeper into the experimental R&B, electro-pop and soul that 'Still' danced around. “I want people to know that I love all these kinds of music,” he’s said. “I look at it like the beat is a canvas and I’m the painter. I’m going to express myself however I want.” Presenting a picture - whether literally, figuratively or with the mood his music creates - is what separates TOBi from the pack. Dial up the “Made Me Everything” video. Uplifting, frenetic, packed with choreography and tennis, it instantly turns viewers into fans. It also has the power to get listeners through a tough day. The singer brought that good vibe to the DSCVR studio, too. “Made Me Everything” retains its infectious buzz, and “Family Matters” resounds with the rap swag he’s always able to tap. No surprise, he truly commanded the room all on his own.
