On the day he was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of the country, P.U.P. leader John Briceño made it clear: he wanted all U.D.P. political appointees to do the right thing and resign. Those U.D.P. appointees heard him and reports surfacing from all ministries are that they are refusing to leave. Contracts for several years were reportedly signed this year, giving political appointees leverage over the government. If an individual is terminated, the government can, and will probably be sued, leaving that employee with the high possibility of collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages for wrongful termination. Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation Andre Perez did not mince words during a live video statement this morning. He called these U.D.P. political cronies ‘viruses’, ‘sicknesses’, and ‘diseases’ that have embedded themselves in government, armed with recently issued government contracts. Minister Perez says that the entire government is struggling right now to fully complete the transition process.
